A CAT PROOF CHRISTMAS TREE

Not all cats will be interested in your Christmas tree, but there still may be accidents unless you take precautions.

How to Keep Your Christmas Tree Fresh Longer

Christmas trees play a big part in our favorite holiday traditions. We decorate, open gifts and celebrate with friends and family around the tree. As the grandfather of Christmas tree farm sales in the Chicago area, our customers always want to know the secrets to keeping the tree fresh longer. Unfortunately, there are no secrets except the following tips below

1: Choose a Healthy and Fresh Tree

Nowadays, more and more people are relying on online shopping. But it is different for Christmas tree shopping. To pick out the healthiest and Freshest Tree, you will have to visit a local tree lot/farm, to actually touch the tree and rub the needles. Make sure you pick out the tree with the least number of brown needles and they can stay on the tree, not fall off easily. Check our 4 locations to see which one is nearby.

2: Have Fresh Cut Trunk

When you're buying a tree, make sure the seller/salesman has fresh cut for you at the tree lot. Take 2 or 3 inches off from the bottom. Chicago Christmas Tree Lot not only will offer you a fresh-cut but also a trim around the trunk to make sure it fits right into the stands.

3: Drink Enough Water

Don't forget to regularly give your Christmas tree water. Normally, within a few hours of a fresh-cut, the tree should be put in fresh water. If you can't set it up in the tree stand right away, you can always put it in a bucket or so. Feed with warm water for the first time and after that, regular water will be fine and check it daily to never let it run out of water.
Attention, the tree will drink a lot of water at the first 2 or 3 days to open up. It's crucial to monitor the water level morning/night for the first 2 or 3 days.
